    Kollicream® 3C

    A mild, emollient, solubilizer and skin penetration enhancer for dermal applications.

    Kollicream® 3C is a clear, mildly yellowish, moderately fast spreading medium polar oil for topical semi-solid product formulations. It has proven to be very mild and non-irritating in clinical studies on extremely sensitive patients, and delivers pleasing sensory properties during application; at the same time, forms emollient films. In addition, the product may also be used to solubilize and aid in the dermal delivery of topical APIs, i.e. as skin penetration enhancer. Kollicream® 3C is suitable for use in emulsions, ointments, gels and foams.

    Our Kollicream® types can be used as emollient in creams and lotions. This high performance emollient offers incredible flexibility and efficiency for topical drug delivery systems, allowing you to adapt variables such as spreading value, molecular weight, or water permeability in line with your needs. With their moisture retention effect, fattening and re-fattening power, these topical excipients are able to care and protect the skin. Within the formulation they also have an impact on the consistency and appearance of the cream or lotion.

    Investigation by Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier Transform Infrared imaging (ATR-FTIR imaging) of Cocoyl Caprylocaprateas a Penetration and Delivery Vehicle

    In cooperation with TRI Princeton Research Education Services, we conducted a joint investigation into the delivery enhancement potential of a formulation compound, Kollicream® 3C (Cocoylcaprylocaprate), for the prospective delivery of actives into the stratum corneum in ex vivo skin utilizing ATR-FTIR spectroscopy imaging.

    The Effect of Emollient Selection on the Microstructure and Release of Clotrimazole from Topical Cream Formulations

    The objective of this study was to explore whether the selection of excipients (Q1) used in a topical semi-solid cream formulation, can impact the microstructural features of the formulation (Q3) and thereby key performance attributes (e.g. dermal drug delivery). We conducted a systematic evaluation using Clotrimazole creams as a model system.

    Effective Topical Delivery of Ibuprofen through the Skin

    In this work, the effective topical delivery of ibuprofen is discussed. The ability to effectively deliver non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) topically and transdermally offers an increased localization of the drug to the site of pain and inflammation, while simultaneously reducing systemic absorption. This ultimately results in more effective treatment for localized pain and inflammation, while reducing the undesired side effects associated with NSAIDs.
