Kollicoat® SR 30 D
The coating polymer for pH-independent sustained release formulations
Kollicoat® SR 30 D is a low-viscosity, non-sticky aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate. Whatever the dosage form, this innovative coating releases active ingredients precisely and evenly over a period of time, at any pH. It exhibits a high binding capacity and excellent film-forming properties – simplifying production and ensuring exceptionally flexible coatings. Kollicoat® SR 30 D produces consistent results across multiple formulations: whether deployed as a film coating for extruded or drug-layered pellets, used to coat and compress multi-particulate single units into tablets, or for granulating and compressing non-erodible sustained-release matrix tablets.

---|---|
Chemical Name: | Polyvinyl acetate stabilized with polyvinylpyrrolidone and sodium lauryl sulfate |
CAS-No: | 9003-20-7 |
Regulatory Status: | Kollicoat® SR 30 D meets the requirements of the current monograph for Poly (Vinyl Acetate) Dispersion 30 Per Cent of Ph. Eur. |
Applications: | The main application is for the production of pH-independent sustained-release formulations. In combination with pore-formers the dispersion can also be used for taste masking purposes. |
Solubility: | Kollicoat® SR 30 D is miscible with water in any ratio while retaining its milky-white appearance. Mixing the product with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol in a 1 : 5 ratio produces a slightly turbid and somewhat viscous solution; a solution in acetone is more turbid. When organic solvents are added, the polymer precipitates at first, but then dissolves when further solvent is added. Kollicoat® SR 30 D is insoluble in dilute alkaline or acidic solutions. |
