A high molecular polyethylene glycol (macrogol) mainly used as solvent for oral, topical and parenteral preparations.
Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) have been used in pharmaceutical applications for over 50 years, giving this inactive ingredient a wide acceptance. Kollisolv® PEG 8000 is a high molecular polyethylene glycol (macrogol) mainly used as solvent for oral, topical and parenteral preparations. The high molecular weight PEG is soluble in water and organic solvents such as alcohols. It can be blended with other PEG molecular weights to achieve the desired properties, i.e. viscosity. Kollisolv® PEG 8000 will not become rancid and will not support microbial growth, even in aqueous solutions.
